General Library Related Silliness

Some of us are musing as to whether something like this could be a fund-raising mechanism for our preservation programs.

Have a bunch of metal film reels (or cans for that matter) that you don’t need anymore because you have re-housed them all on plastic cores/reels/cans? Why not hand-apply some rust and sell them? Interior decorators would love it.

Instead of recycling those old books you could just remove the covers and sell them. Again, interior decorators love this sort of thing. If you are more into a DIY project, you could also turn those old, unwanted, analog books into reading lamps, wall sconces or even a chandelier.

We have been musing whether we can do something with old newspaper-rack rods, moldy pages from books (which can be beautiful), rusty bookends, old pamphlet binders and the like. Do you, dear reader, have any ideas for a DIY fundraiser?
