Topics in Preservation

The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress announces the 52nd presentation in the Topics in Preservation Series (TOPS).  “The Mechanical Properties of Cultural Materials” will be held on July 15, 2010, from 3-4pm.

Senior Research Scientist Marion Mecklenburg will discuss the role that mechanical testing plays in determination of the effects of temperature, relative humidity, conservation treatments and chemical degradation on the long term stability of cultural collections.
