The Book Doctors

The BYU Harold B. Lee Library has its own production unit and they make some pretty fun videos to highlight the libraries and its various departments. Have you seen “Study Like a Scholar?”

The same production unit recently made a video titled “BR” to highlight the work of the book repair staff. A spoof of the old TV hit ER, it is one of the best-made library videos I’ve seen. I guess having video production professionals on staff at your library makes a big difference in the quality of work you can put out there.

Have an excellent weekend everyone.

  1. Hi. I’m the assistant supervisor at Book Repair at BYU. I’m the one who gets hit in the face by book “blood”. Ha ha. So fun to see you’ve linked to our video. We actually made training videos for all the repairs we do here, and that video is the opening for our DVD. We hope to put them online eventually with open access to anyone interested.

I just wanted to let you know that this movie–and all the BYU library spots–are actually entirely student produced. True they are supervised by a couple full time employees, but it is really almost all students. The student who put this together shot all the material in a few hours one afternoon and had it edited and nearly finished the next afternoon.

It was a really fun project. Glad you’ve enjoyed it.

  2. Christina, thanks for replying and telling us more about these videos! Your whole library has some great online videos (hey readers, check them out!). You have some very talented students.

Let us know when you get more online!
